Anti-Nurse Exploitation Law

Nurses don't have to worry about paying in exchange for work experience at hospitals with the passing of House Bill 767. The said House Bill filed by Representative (Laguna 4th District) Edgar San Luis states that hospitals whether public or government institution are banned from demanding payments from nurses in exchange for their services. According to him this is plain and simple exploitation.

 

Furthermore, any institution who have been found guilty of breaking the anti-nurse exploitation law will be penalized with not less than 6 months but not more than 1 year of imprisonment and a fine of Php 100,000 to Php 500,000. Also foreigners who violate the law will be deported at once. In addition, if the nurse have already paid, they will be granted a complete refund of the money paid to the hospital and an additional 6% per annum. Moreover, an imposed salary of not less than the minimum wage or the amount agreed by the court will be paid by the hospital for the services that nurses have rendered.
